'I didn’t think he was like that': Gary Neville shocked after what £50m Arsenal player has done this week

Gary Neville has had his say after Arsenal star Ben White was involved in a heated argument with Oleksandr Zinchenko this week.
The Gunners picked up a deserved win over Nottingham Forest on Tuesday, but things became really nervy at the end after Taiwo Awoniyi pulled one back for the hosts. White seemed to point the finger at his Arsenal teammate Zinchenko for his role in the goal.

Gary Neville surprised by Arsenal defender Ben White
Arsenal signed Ben White from Brighton and Hove Albion in 2021 for £50 million (Sky Sports).

The Englishman has been a really consistent performer for the Gunners over the years. He produces a 7/10 performance at the very least every single game and is one of Mikel Arteta‘s most important players.

In the game against Nottingham Forest this week, Oleksandr Zinchenko failed to be in line with the other defenders, and that move eventually led to their goal.

After the game, White seemed to have a go at Zinchenko, and the two players had to be separated. Arteta even dragged the Ukrainian aside to calm him down as he seemed really angry.

Gary Neville and Ian Wright discussed White’s actions on Stik to Football this week, and the former claimed: “It’s not like Ben White, is it?”

Wright replied: “I think it is like Ben White to say that. He is the player and has that look, he will tell you.”

A surprised Neville then said: “I didn’t think he was like that!”

This is a good thing for Arsenal
Two players of the same team having a go at each other might be viewed as a big negative, but this is the complete opposite for Arsenal.

Ben White was angry that his side couldn’t keep a clean sheet in a game that they dominated. Forest barely had any decent opportunities until the ball fell to Awoniyi’s feet.

Zinchenko, who was only partly at fault, wasn’t particularly pleased that he got the blame as William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes could’ve done better too.

That’s why he reacted the way that he did, but the common theme here is both White and Zinchenko weren’t satisfied with just the win – they wanted perfection.

They are demanding more from each other every game, and that can only be a positive thing for Arsenal going into the business end of the season.
