The Reds endured a torrid day at the office as a mistake by Virgil van Dijk and goalkeeper Alisson Becker gifted their Premier League title rivals two goals, just their second defeat of the season. Mikel Arteta's side were up for the crunch match and caught Liverpool cold as the league leaders failed to lay a glove on the North London club.
Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard were on target for the Gunners, while a Gabriel own-goal handed Liverpool an unlikely avenue back into the game. Jurgen Klopp's misery was compounded when Ibrahima Konate was shown a second yellow card moments before Trossard's effort.
The victory reignited Arsenal's title aspirations, and they certainly enjoyed getting one over on their rivals. In the immediate aftermath of the full-time whistle going, Odegaard, who completed the full 90 minutes, turned photographer.
The midfielder took a snap of Gunners club photographer Stuart McFarlane in front of a jubilant home end, but Carragher was not impressed with what he was seeing.
He said: "Just get down the tunnel, you've won a game. It's three points, you've been brilliant you are back in the title race, get back down the tunnel. I am serious - honestly."
Before he later added: "Arsenal deserved the win, Liverpool were so far off. They played poorly, it’s not something we’ve seen of them of late. They’ve got three or four matches until they play Manchester City - that’ll be a massive test of their nerve now."
