The Gunners are said to be looking at Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams with a view to a potential approach in the summer transfer window.
According to The Mirror, Arsenal have sent their scouts to make checks on the 20-year-old winger. But the Gunners aren’t alone.
As well as Arsenal, the likes of Real Madrid, Aston Villa and Liverpool have been linked with him, as per the report.
And writing for Sportslens earlier this week, journalist Dean Jones suggested that north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur are seriously interested in Williams too.

Mikel Arteta is apparently keen on bringing in a back-up for Bukayo Saka to ease the pressure on the England winger.
As well as Williams, Arsenal are reportedly also long-term admirers of Wolves winger Pedro Neto, who is already proven in the Premier League.

Arsenal target Nico Williams is an ‘incredible’ talent
Arsenal could certainly do with bolstering their ranks in the summer transfer window. They’re a great team, but there’s a few finishing touches they could apply to the squad.
Cover for Saka is crucial, as the Gunners player has definitely had to deal with a huge workload since becoming a regular for club and country.
Williams would be a good shout for Arsenal. At just 21 years of age, he has already made over 100 Athletic appearances and has won 11 caps for Spain.
The La Roja talent has been labelled an “incredible” athlete, and there has been a suggestion that he is even faster than Kylian Mbappe.
Better still, Jones’ report suggested that Williams is seriously considering leaving Athletic in the summer. His contract includes a £43million release clause.
Obviously Arsenal will have a difficult job on their hands trying to sign Williams amid a lot of strong competition.
However, the Gunners have made so much progress in recent years that selling a move to the Emirates Stadium isn’t a difficult job.
