Report: West Ham battling Arsenal to sign £9 million Brazilian in the summer transfer window

West Ham United are set to battle Arsenal for Pablo Maia in the summer transfer window.

Pablo Maia is someone who has been linked with a move to West Ham before, with Brazilian reports claiming he could be available for just £9 million, but now Arsenal want to sign him as well.

Hammers boss David Moyes clearly wants to strengthen his central midfield options in the summer, but whether he will be given a chance to do so remains to be seen of course.

Edson Alvarez has been superb for us, but we have little in reserve should the Mexican be missing for a prolonged period of time, aside from the on-loan Kalvin Phillips of course.

Maia is far from the finished product, but I think he’d be absolutely exceptional for us, if the West Ham owners manage to beat Arsenal to his signature…

According to a report from the Daily Mail, the 22-year-old is a transfer target for the Hammers and the Gunners this summer.

Sao Paulo ace Maia really is an exceptional talent, and he would be a really exciting addition to Moyes’s ranks this summer.

MORE WEST HAM STORIES
The 22-year-old is a defensive midfielder and is extremely tenacious in the tackle. He has stamina, energy and dynamism in abundance and has really impressive technical ability as well – as you would expect for a Brazilian.

The beauty of the Maia is the fact that he can also operate as an orthodox central midfielder and a number 10 as well!

I believe that the Sao Paulo midfielder is absolutely ideally suited to the robust physical nature and intense speed of Premier League football.

And if West Ham manage to beat Arsenal to the signing of Pablo Maia in the summer, it will be a move that we should all be extremely excited about.
