Saka criticises his West Ham performance despite 2 goals

Bukayo Saka was one of the stars of Arsenal’s 6-0 win over West Ham United at the weekend, proving a constant threat to the Hammers’ defence.
The winger scored twice, including one goal from the penalty spot, having won the spot-kick himself.

Saka also created three chances including one big chance, and he completed 92% of his passes.

It was a big day for the 22-year-old, as his first goal was his 50th for Arsenal, and his second goal brought him to 100 combined goals and assists for the club.

But speaking afterwards, Saka insisted he should have scored more.

“To be honest, I’m really happy to achieve that (50 goals for Arsenal), but I’m not sure I can be happy today,” Saka said.

“I missed some chances that I thought I could have scored, you know, but obviously it’s a great achievement, so I’m proud of that.”

Saka had seven shots throughout his 67 minutes on the pitch, so you can understand why he might be disappointed to have only scored twice.

But the stats suggest he actually overperformed against his 1.73 expected goals, so he shouldn’t be too hard on himself.
