That’s because Brentford manager Thomas Frank had admitted in a new interview that it is ‘quite obvious’ that the Bees will sell their striker at the end of the season.
Arsenal and Chelsea both tried to sign Toney this month and despite being unableto strike a deal, the two sides are expected to try again when the window reopens.
United are also keeping tabs on Toney and will rival the two London teams for the 27-year-old signature in the summer.
‘It’s quite obvious that Ivan Toney will most likely be sold in the summer,’ Frank told Danish outlet Tipsbladet.
‘It can be expensive to sell your best player, but on the other hand, I also know that by summer, he’ll only have a year left on his contract with us.
‘We also know what he’s worth. I don’t think there are many strikers in the world who are better than him right now.

‘He’s a really good striker who is in his prime footballing age. Personally, as a coach, I would prefer to keep Toney, but one day it could be fun to see him at a top team.
‘This winter, we actually had no bids for him, but it would surprise me if there aren’t a lot of clubs interested in him.’
Toney made his return to action last month following an eight-month ban for breaching the Football Association’s rules on betting and has scored two goals across three Premier League games this term.
Toney scored 20 Premier League goals for Brentford last season in an impressive campaign.
