Arteta and his players were involved in last season's title race before ultimately coming up short to City. Ahead of the clash, the Arsenal boss was asked about this season's title race with his answer telling of how the squad are shaping up for the run-in.
Speaking in a press conference, he said: "I was just watching everybody walking in the building and I loved the energy, I loved their smiles and they were glad to be back. They wanted to train yesterday and the way they communicate and relate with each other every day is phenomenal.
"We have done a lot to be in the position that we are, but we need to go day by day, train well, prepare every match. We've done a lot to be where we are now we have to embrace that position and go for it." Around this time last season, the Gunners headed to Manchester for a huge clash and they were comfortably beaten 4-1.
However, with Declan Rice and Kai Havertz now in their ranks, along with eight consecutive league wins, the Gunners head into the game with serious momentum. Kyle Walker and John Stones missing the clash through injury could also give Arsenal a major advantage.
With that in mind, Arsenal appear to have made the message ahead of the game very clear. On social media, when posting their pre-match graphic, the post was captioned: "Full focus on the task at hand, [clenched fist emoji]".
The Gunners have also already beaten Man City twice this season with a victory in the reverse fixture and Community Shield triumph, however their last league win away to last season's champions came nine years ago.
