Arsenal must not sell Mikel Arteta favourite for €25m, would be a huge mistake - View

Arsenal must not contemplate the sale of Jakub Kiwior this summer amid interest from AC Milan.

The Poland international joined the club from Spezia for €25 million in January last year. He was unconvincing with his performances during the second half of the season.

Kiwior faced a similar situation earlier this campaign, but he has managed to turn around his fortunes in recent months. The 24-year-old has been rock-solid from the left-back role.

Gazzetta dello Sport (page 10) have today reported that AC Milan are still interested in signing Kiwior, but Arsenal are unlikely to provide any discount on the €25m fee paid to Spezia.

The publication claim that the Gunners could be prepared to sell Kiwior to the Rossoneri for the right price, but we believe it would be a huge mistake from the hierarchy if they do so.

Arsenal must keep Kiwior who has proved his credentials
Kiwior built his reputation with his performances at Spezia. He was also impressive for Poland at the World Cup. This convinced the Gunners to secure his services last year.

The Anderlecht graduate had a tough introduction to English football, but he has found his feet over the past few months where he has played regularly from the left-back position.

Kiwior is predominantly a left-sided centre-back, but he has fared brilliantly from the left-back role.

With Ben White having the license to press forward from right-back, Kiwior has mostly focused on his defensive duties which have brought the best out of him this year.

The Pole has one goal and three assists since February, but he has also caught the eye with his passing, ability to win aerial duels and concentration in defensive situations.

Kiwior has definitely answered his critics since the New Year and in our view, the club must not contemplate his departure unless there is a significant transfer bid which seems unlikely.

It does not make sense to consider a €25m proposal from Milan for a player, who can play in central defence, left-back as well as from the holding midfield position.

He has now become a new favourite under manager Mikel Arteta and it would be a huge mistake from the board’s point of view if they were to sanction his departure.
