Gabriel, Martinelli, Timber - injury news and return dates for Man City clash

Mikel Arteta's side could go four points clear of reigning champions City when the two sides meet at the Etihad Stadium on March 31. The Gunners are currently leading the table with 64 points ahead of Liverpool on goal difference with Pep Guardiola's side a point behind.

Arsenal received concerning news on Monday that centre-back Gabriel Magalhaes had pulled out of the latest Brazil squad. However, football.london understands that the defender's withdrawal is a precaution as the club continue to monitor an Achilles tendon issue. Below is the latest on the Gunners' injury situation...

Gabriel Magalhaes
Injury: Achilles.

Return date: TBC.

Jurrien Timber
Injury: Knee.

Return date: TBC.

What Arteta has said: "Not many updates [before the win over Porto]. We're trying to have everybody fit and available."

Timber continues to be involved in training following his ACL injury - which came shortly after his move from Ajax this summer. However, a firm date for the defender to return has not been given by the club.

The 22-year-old made two appearances for The Gunners before injury unfortunately derailed his debut season.

Gabriel Martinelli
Injury: Foot.

Return date: TBC.

What Arteta has said: "Not many updates [before the win over Porto]. We're trying to have everybody fit and available."

Martinelli was not involved against either Brentford or Porto. He was spotted by football.london walking through the mixed-zone on crutches after the Brentford game, before sitting out in the Champions League.

His setback was not thought to be too serious and the Brazil forward has, seemingly, trained in some part.
