Key Arsenal trio including 'world-class' star nowhere to be seen in training ahead of Manchester City clash

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has been putting his players through their paces in training ahead of this weekend’s huge Premier League trip to Manchester City.

Admittedly, the Gunners boss has been without most of his first-team stars over the past week, as they have been on international duty.

However, a number of key Arsenal players have stayed put, some of them having not been away due to fitness concerts.

On Tuesday, the Gunners media team published photos of the Arsenal players in training at London Colney, but there were a few glaring omissions.

Arsenal trio Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Magalhaes and Gabriel Martinelli all stayed put at north London after having picked up injuries or knocks.

None of them could be spotted in the session, which featured the likes of Ben White, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Thomas Partey, Reiss Nelson, Eddie Nketiah, Fabio Vieira and Mohamed Elneny.

As per football.london, the ‘world-class‘ Saka was withdrawn from the latest England squad due to a tweak, which was said to be a precautionary measure.

Meanwhile, Magalhaes has reportedly been resting his Achilles after managing the injury for the past few weeks.

Football.london has speculated that both players could potentially return for the Man City game at the Etihad on Sunday.

As for Martinelli, he missed the last two games before the international break due to a foot injury.

The outlet noted that he has been seen in crutches, but it’s unclear how bad his injury is and his potential return date is unknown.

It would be great if the Arsenal media team didn’t photograph the aforementioned trio as a sort of ‘mind game’ to keep fans and opponents guessing ahead of Sunday’s match.

However, we can’t say for certain. Let’s hope that all three players can get back to Arsenal training over the coming days and will be fine to face Pep Guardiola’s charges.
