He looked set to be replaced Jakub Kiwior with just 15 minutes remaining but ended up staying on after receiving medical attention. The Gunners will be hoping that he is fit to return against Tottenham on Sunday as the strolled to a comfortable win at the Emirates Stadium, boosting their title hopes.
Arsenal instead took off Bukayo Saka, offering him a rest after a tough few weeks for the winger. It came with his side already 5-0 up following a second-half thumping.
Leandro Trossard opened the scoring after just three minutes but that was it for the first 45. Arsenal had some wasteful Chelsea finishing to thank after their own profligacy in front of goal almost cost them a well earned lead.
However, after the break there was no such problem. Kai Havertz and Ben White scored within 15 minutes of the restart as Mauricio Pochettino's side crumbled in north London.
Havertz got another against his former side shortly after in a stunning display of free-flowing attacking football from Arsenal. White added a second himself with 20 minutes left.
They could have had more as well with Declan Rice hitting the post and Djordje Petrovic's goal continuing to be peppered throughout. Gabriel's work, especially in the second half, was extremely limited.
