Arsenal and Mikel Arteta must quickly forget Sunday's defeat to Aston Villa with a huge Champions League clash against Bayern Munich to come on Wednesday. The Gunners have been fortunate regarding injuries over the last few weeks with Thomas Partey, Bukayo Saka and Takehiro Tomiyasu all returning to bolster Arteta's squad.
The likes of Saka and Gabriel Magalhaes have entered weekends as major injury doubts but Arteta's key core of players have always been able to feature. However, that could change against Bayern with club captain Martin Odegaard picking up a fresh issue in the defeat to Aston Villa.
Given the tinkering Arteta did at the weekend, the Arsenal boss faces a number of important decisions to give Arsenal the best chance of reaching the Champions League semi-finals.
With that said, football.london has taken a look at the latest Arsenal injury news before the trip to Germany for the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final against Bayern Munich
Martin Odegaard
The Arsenal captain was unable to complete the full game against Villa and was taken off with 10 minutes to go. Emile Smith Rowe replaced Odegaard despite his side looking to try and find a winner at the time.
Injury: Unknown.
What Arteta has said: "He was feeling something. He could not continue."
Potential return date: Bayern Munich (A) - Champions League - Wednesday, April 17.Bukayo Saka
Saka was seen limping towards the end of the Villa defeat. He came close to scoring in the first half but struggled to impact the game after the break. He is just two weeks on from returning to the side following an injury.
Injury: Unknown.
What Arteta has said: N/A
Potential return date: Bayern Munich (A) - Champions League - Wednesday, April 17.
Gabriel Jesus
Gabriel Jesus had been complaining about a pain in his knee and having to play through it earlier in the week, leading to questions being asked at Arteta in Friday's press conference. However, the Gunners boss claimed the star had the toughness to play through it although it could mean managed minutes for him across the rest of the season.
He started against Aston Villa but was taken off in the second half as Arsenal searched for a goal.
Injury: Knee pain.
What Arteta has said: "In elite sport to play without pain, I think it is very difficult. When you play every three days especially, and the level that we play, if you ask any player they will say that: ‘Yeah, sometimes there is pain and you have to deal with that’.
"That is what makes you as well and Gabi has this toughness and this character that he always wants to overcome [it]. He has overcome some difficulties in terms of injuries and he is ready again."
Return date: Returned.
Jurrien Timber
The defender has been recovering from an anterior cruciate ligament injury he suffered back in August during the Premier League clash against Nottingham Forest. His only other appearance came in the Community Shield against Manchester City.
Timber has been in team training since before the recent international break. Despite Arteta's hope he will play again this season, he was not in the squad to face Brighton or Bayern.
Injury: Knee.
What Arteta has said: "Still he’s got a few steps to make. He needs to play at least a game with the 23s. We’re going to have an in house game too soon. He’s done everything in training now it’s about getting him match fit, having people around him and competing in a football match which is different to training. From what we’ve seen in training and the time that he was fit, he’s going to have a big, big impact in the team."
