Arsenal learn new Alexander Isak asking price as transfer error becomes clear

Arsenal are reportedly interested in making a £100million move for Alexander Isak this summer, having missed out on the opportunity to sign the Swedish striker for £37m less two years ago.

Newcastle United struck a deal worth £63m for Isak back in 2022 and have been rewarded for their investment, having seen the 24-year-old score 29 goals and register four assists in 60 games for the club.

Arsenal were said to be interested in Isak at the time of his switch to St James' Park, though missed out on the opportunity to recruit the talented forward. The opportunity to recruit Isak for the second time could arise at the end of the current campaign as Newcastle look to raise funds amid profit and sustainability rules. "No one connected with Newcastle would want to lose him," said the Newcastle boss, speaking to reporters ahead of a clash against Everton on Tuesday night. "He's an outstanding talent. I thought he was excellent against West Ham. He didn't score in open play but his two penalties were outstanding and his general play was very good. His link play, his athleticism, he looked in a really good place."

Isak last month opened up on his future on Tyneside, claiming 'things can happen'. Speaking to Swedish newspaper Expressen, he said: "It doesn’t affect me that much. It has been talked about many times, in many windows. I see it as just such a thing. Everyone knows that summer is coming and if things show up, things can happen, but I actually haven’t even thought about it."
