Wilshere was shocked when his Gunners boss Wenger, usually a calm and collected customer both pitchside and in the changing room, totally lost it.
Even the Frenchman had moments when his temper flared. Despite the joy that the Gunners experienced under Wenger's leadership in the league and FA Cup, the Champions League remained elusive during his 22-year tenure.
But the tables turned dramatically at the Camp Nou. Lionel Messi put Pep Guardiola's side ahead, before Arsenal took a 3-2 aggregate lead when Sergio Busquets scored an own goal, giving the Gunners a vital away goal.
Minutes later, the match was flipped upside down when Robin van Persie, who had already been booked earlier in the game, received a second yellow for kicking the ball away post-whistle.

The Dutchman insisted he hadn't heard the whistle, but referee Massimo Busacca dismissed the objections. Wilshere revealed how furious Wenger was.
When asked about his reaction to the incident, the former England star told Arsenal's website: "I was thinking 'what have I just seen?' I remember being angry, and Arsene was so angry.

"I knew why he'd been sent off, but it didn't make sense. The ref was terrible, and I'd never seen Arsene as angry as he was after that game.
"He was usually so calm, and kept us calm, but he knew this was out of his control. That's when I knew it must have been a bad refereeing performance for him to react like that, with all that he'd seen in the game."
Xavi levelled for Barca 13 minutes after the sending off before Messi netted his second of the game from the penalty spot to put them 4-3 ahead on aggregate, which is how it finished.
