Bukayo Saka fitness update provided by Mikel Arteta ahead of Arsenal vs Luton

Mikel Arteta insists Bukayo Saka is ‘fine’ but will make a decision on his potential involvement against Luton after Tuesday’s training session.

The Arsenal winger has enjoyed another stellar season but has been carrying an injury for several weeks.

Saka was called-up to the most recent England squad last month, but was forced to pull out and took no part in the friendlies against Brazil and Belgium.

The 22-year-old was subsequently able to start in Sunday’s stalemate against Manchester City but looked far from his best and was substituted with 12 minutes remaining.

Explaining the decision to subsittute Saka against the champions, Arteta said on Sunday: ‘Nothing serious. As you know, he has been out for a few weeks now with a little problem.

‘He was feeling the fatigue. He only trained one day before the match. He had a big contribution but it was a lot, 90 minutes for him today.’

Asked for an update on Saka’s condition ahead of tomorrow night’s game against the relegation threatened Hatters, Arteta said: ‘He is fine.

‘We have not trained, just recovered. We will have a short, light session today. We will see whether he is in the best condition to start or not.’
