Confirmed: Liverpool next manager announcement date revealed

Liverpool are likely to announce their next manager in early June, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that it the Reds won’t want any distractions between now and the end of the season.

The Anfield club are on the lookout for a new boss after Jurgen Klopp announced his decision to leave this summer.

The 56-year-old made the announcement in January, forcing the Liverpool chiefs into a search for his replacement.

Shortly after his exit announcement, Klopp guided the Reds to League Cup success over Chelsea at Wembley.

Premier League and Europa League success is still on the cards, and O’Rourke believes it is only fair that the club allow the German to focus on those competitions before announcing his successor.

And sources have told Football Insider that Sporting CP boss Ruben Amorim is currently the club’s preferred choice.

“I think more likely it will be post-season, just to be fair to Jurgen Klopp to see out the season,” he told the Inside Track podcast.

“Liverpool are fighting for the Premier League title and the Europa League, so they won’t want any distractions.

“And it’s the same for the potential targets. I’m sure Ruben Amorim at Sporting Lisbon doesn’t want any distractions between now and the end of the season as well, he’s got his own targets to go for, trying to win the Portuguese title.

“So I think it wouldn’t be fair, especially on managers who are in jobs right now, to have any announcements of potentially moving into a new job.

“I think post-season is the most likely scenario for Liverpool to announce who is going to replace Klopp.

“Talks are probably ongoing right now with a number of candidates, not just Amorim. There has been talk of Julian Nagelsmann, who is taking charge of Germany at Euro 2024, and I’m sure there are other candidates that are not out there in the press that Liverpool are talking to as well and seeing if there is a possibility of bringing them in.

“So I don’t expect any announcement before the end of the season, and I think we’ll probably get it in early June, ready ahead of pre-season.”
