The Gunners take on relegation-threatened Luton Town at the Etihad Stadium just four days after the game against City. A win would put them back to the top of the table ahead of Liverpool’s game against Sheffield United on Thursday night.
Man City are also in action on Wednesday as they host Champions League chasing Aston Villa at the Etihad Stadium. Pep Guardiola’s side are currently in third place, one point behind Arsenal with the Gunners two points behind leaders Liverpool.
Ahead of the game vs Luton, Mikel Arteta doesn’t have too many injury concerns. There is only one definite absentee in defender Jurrien Timber, although there is some concern over the fitness of Bukayo Saka.
With that in mind, football.london have taken a look at the latest injury news from the Emirates Stadium ahead of the visit of Luton.
Jurrien Timber
Injury : Knee
The defender has been recovering from a Anterior Cruciate Ligament injury he suffered back in August during the Premier League clash against Nottingham Forest. His only other appearance came in the Community Shield against Manchester City.
What Arteta has said : "Jurrien is still not close enough to be part of the squad on Monday [against Sheffield United.] The physios and medical staff have been impressed with his attitude. Now we have to manage because it’s the last stage of that difficult injury but I think he’s in the right way."
Potential return date : Unknown
Gabriel Martinelli
The Brazilian made his return to action as a second half substitute against Man City on Sunday, replacing Bukayo Saka. He had missed the previous two games in all competitions and sitting out the international break in order to recover.
Return date : Already returned
Bukayo Saka
The key man for Arsenal was an injury worry for the game against Man City after withdrawing from the England squad with a hamstring injury. He however recovered in time to be named in the starting line up at the Etihad Stadium, he was replaced by Martinelli in the second half.
What Arteta has said: "He's fine," he said . "We haven’t trained, just recovered. We have a short, light session today to prepare the game and we will see if he’s in the best condition to start or not."
Potential return date : Vs Luton (H) April 3.
Gabriel Jesus, Jorginho and Jakub Kiwior were also substituted for Arsenal in the second half. All three were thought to be for tactical reasons with no injury concerns over the trio.
