‘One of the best’: Wolves boss Gary O’Neil makes claim about Arsenal after yesterday’s game

Wolves boss Gary O’Neil has made a claim about Arsenal following yesterday’s defeat at Molineux.

Arsenal picked up a much-needed win in the Midlands thanks to goals from Leandro Trossard and Martin Odegaard.

It felt vital that the Gunners bounced back following consecutive defeats to Aston Villa and Bayern Munich.

The win sees Mikel Arteta’s men move above Manchester City to the top of the Premier League table with just five games left to play.

Arsenal put in yet another dominant display on the road in the league, with Wolves barely managing to threaten their goal barring Joao Gomes rattling the woodwork in the first half.

Indeed, while the Gunners weren’t at their free-flowing best in the final third, they created 1.61xG and limited Wolves to just 0.14.

Gary O’Neil was disappointed to concede a late goal as Odegaard wrapped up a comfortable win. But the Wolves boss was full of praise for his side’s efforts against a top team.

What O’Neil said about Arsenal
Speaking to beIN SPORTS after yesterday’s game, O’Neil labelled Arsenal as ‘one of the best’ sides in Europe at the moment.

“Really proud, incredible performance,” he said. “Second goal was hard on the lads, our own doing at that point. What an incredible performance to put in with where we are at the moment and how short we are. All the young lads that were involved… An incredible performance and one that I’m really proud of.

“I thought we pushed one of the best sides in Europe all the way there and caused them some problems. They will know they were in a game. Just disappointed we don’t take any points from it.

“But the Premier League isn’t always about taking points, there are some games that come along that are really difficult for you and I said before we needed to make sure we look like us and you can see by the reception from the crowd there at the end it was an incredible effort from the players.”
