The Gunners have remained in the Premier League title picture all season and also reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
At the same time, Arsenal’s title destiny is not in their hands, and the Gunners will want to go further in the Champions League next term.
With that in mind, there’s a lot of work to do, and there’s a good chance we’ll see numerous incomings and outgoing this summer.
One player Arsenal are said to be monitoring has been deemed “one of the best talents in Europe in his position”, and Jurrien Timber knows him well.
Arsenal have been keeping tabs on Hato for over 12 months now and, despite the player’s new contract at Ajax, the Gunners remain firmly interested.
Who is Arsenal target Jorrel Hato?
Hato is one of Europe’s best young footballers, having already clocked up 61 competitive appearances for Ajax – and one senior Oranje cap – despite only turning 18 in March.
Fabrizio Romano wrote about Arsenal and Hato in May: “Arsenal keep monitoring Ajax young centre-back Jorrel Hato as one of the best talents in Europe in his position.”
Meanwhile, Jacek Kulig of Football Talent Scout sung the reported Gunners target’s praises a year ago, comparing him to Lucas Hernandez and Evan Ndicka.
Kulig deemed him a “complete and dominant centre-back” who is “forceful, quick and powerful”.
Hato is also “known for his good timing, confidence in possession, understanding of the game, and an above-average technical capacity”.
In addition, Hato also knows Timber well. The two have shared a pitch 14 times – could they become teammates once again?
In terms of his price tag, he’ll sadly – and unsurprisingly – not be cheap. Reports have suggested that Arsenal would have to pay around £86million for Hato.
Let’s see what happens in the coming months. The Gunners seem determined to make their move for Hato, who can also play at left-back, making him a versatile option for Arteta.
