'Come on you Spurs!' - Mesut Ozil makes hilarious promise to Tottenham as he wills them to do it.

WHAT HAPPENED?
In an unprecedented turn of events, Arsenal are relying on their north London rivals to bolster their chances of securing the league crown. If Ange Postecoglou's troops manage to get a win or draw out of their home game with City then the Gunners will seize control of the title race before heading into the final matchday of the season on Sunday.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Tottenham will have everything to play for in this match as they still have an outside chance of qualifying for the Champions League following a dramatic 3-3 draw between Aston Villa and Liverpool. Hence, former Arsenal playmaker Ozil, who has regularly taunted Tottenham over the years, has urged Spurs to defy the odds and produce a positive result against a marauding City.

WHAT OZIL SAID
In a social media post, Ozil declared his support for Tottenham, a gesture rarely seen from the former Arsenal star.

He wrote: "First time ever tonight: COME ON YOU SPURSSS!! 😁 If Tottenham don't lose this game I will never make fun of them again... I promise 🤞🏼 #MCITOT".

Ozil's sentiments were echoed by his former Arsenal team-mate, Theo Walcott, who also extended his support to Tottenham for the crucial fixture.
"I’m wearing all Tottenham white right now," said Walcott. "I mean it’s one of those. I expect Man City to win but I also expect Tottenham to go out there and perform because they’re at their home ground and will want to perform. There’s going to be a lot of unhappy people during the game if their team end up playing particularly well. You want to be in good habits and Postecoglou will get them in good habits ready for a good step next year."

DID YOU KNOW?
Ozil has intermittently aimed digs at Tottenham and the most recent one came in December when they lost to West Ham and became the first Premier League team in history to fail to win five consecutive games after going 1-0 up on each occasion.

WHAT NEXT?
If City drop points on Tuesday evening, Arsenal will consolidate their position at the top of the table, thanks to a better goal difference. However, the difference is just three goals and the Premier League title race will be set up for a rivetting finish on Sunday when the Gunners play Everton at home while City host West Ham.
