With that in mind, football.london takes a look at what a dream summer window might look like regarding the forward line. From both those the club would look to sign and those who could be moved on before the market closes.
Benjamin Sesko signs
With the likes of Alexander Isak seeming out of reach in this window and the aforementioned Havertz looking particularly strong, the focus could instead shift to a younger option. In fact, football.london understands that this is exactly the type of profile that is being considered and one of the names on the list in RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko.
Eddie Nketiah and others sold
With forwards potentially coming in, it means that there needs to be room made for the signings. Two forward options that could go are Hale End graduates Eddie Nketiah and Reiss Nelson.
Both have not been able to get many more minutes since signing their new deals in the past two summers and any interest to land them would earn the club a decent return they would hope. Nketiah has since made his senior England debut and there have been rumours of interest from Ipswich Town which could bring in some good funds to the Gunners and leave space for the arrival of some new blood.
Xavi Simons loan
Bukayo Saka remains alone as the senior right winger in the side and adding depth and competition to allow for rotation and rest is definitely something most would agree is a necessity in this window. PSG’s Xavi Simons is available for a loan move and with Profit and Sustainability Regulations always a threat, signing such a talent without a transfer fee could be a shrewd move and the Netherlands international has the quality to justify the punt.
Furthermore, an option could potentially be negotiated in the deal whilst having the chance to showcase Arsenal to the player like what happened with Martin Odegaard. Despite not having an option, the chance to sign the player permanently put the Gunners in the perfect position and this could be repeated with the talented Simons.
