Gary Neville & Jamie Carragher both agree & pick Arsenal quartet in PL Team of the Year

Sky Sports pundits Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville have picked their team of the season as the 2023-24 Premier League campaign draws to a close, and they both agreed on four Arsenals players in their respective teams.

Neville selected Ben White, William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes, Martin Odegaard and Declan Rice in his team, while Carragher excluded White but included the other four stars in his team as well.

The Gunners have had the best defence in the Premier League this season, and the Sky Sports duo agree that the centre-back partnership of Saliba and Gabriel has been outstanding.

“If Saliba and Gabriel stay together for the next three or four years, we’re talking about them alongside Ferdinand and Vidic, Carvalho and Terry,” Carragher said on Monday Night Football.

“There’s a lot of talk about Saliba but Gabriel has been outstanding,” Neville added.

White has also been very brilliant playing at right-back for the majority of the campaign, weighing in with four goals and four assists in 36 Premier League appearances so far.

The 26-year-old could get the nod of his colleagues during their voting for the PFA Team of the Year, and not many would be surprised if he pips other right-backs to a spot in the team.

Arsenal have kept 18 clean sheets in 37 league games this term and conceded the least goals (28), and while Saliba and Gabriel have often been praised for the team’s impeccable defensive solidity, White’s influence has equally been commendable.

Odegaard and Rice have made the Arsenal midfield tick, with the Gunners skipper being a consistent creator-in-chief, while the England international has arguably been the best holding midfielder.

The Gunners are top of the Premier League table ahead of the last day of the campaign on Sunday, but they need the stars to align to win their first title since 2004.

Manchester City are just a point behind Arsenal with a game in hand, and Pep Guardiola and his side will retain the title if they secure victories against Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United.

The Gunners need them to drop points and must win against Everton on Sunday to win the league, and many neutrals are hoping that happens
