The Gunners went into Sunday’s game knowing that the fate of the Premier League title was not in their hands.
Manchester City went into the day ahead of Arsenal having beaten Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 in midweek.
That left fate in City’s hands, and Pep Guardiola’s men got the job done with a 3-1 home win over West Ham United.
Arsenal did secure three points on the final day, coming from a goal down to beat Everton 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium.
Takehiro Tomiyasu and Kai Havertz were both on the scoresheet as Arsenal came back to claim all three points.
It wasn’t enough to claim top spot though as Arsenal once again come up short against City in the title race.

Heartbreaking Arsenal image emerges
Arsenal finished five points beer off than last season and can be happy with the progress they made this season.
Yes, the Gunners again came up short but they are moving in the right direction under Mikel Arteta.
Some fans will be understandably heartbroken after seeing Arsenal miss out, especially having gone so close last season too.
One image has now emerged which will sting for Arsenal supporters.
A behind-the-scenes photo from EuroFoot shows the unused title-winning podium at the Emirates Stadium.
The parts of the podium were there and ready to go, decorated with the Arsenal badge and the ‘Champions 2023/24’ tag.
Those boards were left unused as City managed to hang on and claim a fourth straight Premier League title.
Now, this isn’t a case of Arsenal putting the cart before the horse; whilst mathematically possible that Arsenal could win the league, all the preparations had to be in place.
Arsenal had the plans in place for a huge celebration and seeing that podium – which will now never be used – just hammers home how close the Gunners came to winning the title.
Arsenal came close last year but took it to the final day this time around, leaving many hoping and believing in Arteta to go another step better next season.
Taking down Manchester City won’t be easy but Arsenal fans seem completely behind Arteta and have full belief in the project.
Arsenal fans will hope to see a title-winning podium again down the line – and hopefully in slightly difference circumstances than this one.
