Jürgen Klopp reveals he will remain in Liverpool job role after being replaced by Arne Slot

Liverpool fans got an opportunity to say goodbye to Jürgen Klopp at a special event on Tuesday night. But as the German steps down as manager, he will still retain a role within the club.

Klopp brought the curtain down on his nine-year tenure at the end of the season with a farewell event taking place at the M&S Arena. Some 11,000 fans attended with Klopp taking part in a Q&A on his time in charge.

The 56-year-old addressed Manchester City's FFP charges among other things, and also reflected how Liverpool could have signed three world superstars before their moves elsewhere.

In an emotional speech Klopp revealed that he will remain an ambassador for the club and its LFC Foundation. The official charity works closely with local communities in an attempt to better the lives of young people and families.

Klopp and wife Ulla have lent their support to an array of programs during his nine years at Anfield with all proceeds from Tuesday night's event going to the charity. Speaking to the crowd, Klopp said: "I got the key to the city, and it means so much more than you might think.

"We would love to help if we can. It means a lot and it comes with responsibility, and I love to live this responsibility as much as we can.”

Klopp's status means he is likely to return to Liverpool to make appearances at LFC Foundation events. The Reds have hosted Legends matches in the past for the charity with the German potentially returning to manage one day in the future.

He is planning on taking a sabbatical from management though and jetted out to Majorca with wife Ulla last week. Klopp is expected to head to his native Germany to attend the European Championships this summer.

Liverpool.com says: It was a special night as Liverpool fans bid farewell to Jürgen Klopp. He was visibly moved by the tributes from supporters but has made it clear he will continue to work closely with the club's charity. Could we see him back on the Anfield touchline for a Legends match?
