Peter Schmeichel blames Man Utd star for not 'helping' Casemiro in Arsenal defeat

But Schmeichel believes Trossard’s first-half winner was symbolic of United’s lack of team spirit under Ten Hag and feels Onana should have done more to push Casemiro up the pitch.

‘From a defending point of view obviously there are a few mistakes in there,’ Schmeichel told Premier League Productions.

‘So what you have here, you’ve got Casemiro, we talked about this before the game, Casemiro is not a centre-half, I think he proved that on Monday night.

‘As a team you have to help each other, teammates have got to help each other.

‘Casemiro hangs in there, we don’t see Onana, Onana should be pushing up behind him and actually say, ‘go further forward’. He doesn’t do that, he actually stays on his line.

‘When we talk about being a team you have to help each other out. You talk about how well Arsenal did there [for the goal], how well they looked at each other and got the timing right, but this is one of the problems Manchester United have at the moment, it’s very much individual performances and they don’t look like a team.

‘Today is a great example of it all about being, ‘when you get the ball I’m going to try and score a goal and I’m not going to look at any teammates, I’m just going to try myself’.

‘This for me is when we talk about standards and what Manchester United play is, this is what’s gone out of it, in certain ways, I’m not going to accuse the team of being uncoached, but there seems not to be a system or an idea of, ‘when we do this, these are your options, this is what you can do, or pass it out to there’.’
