Alexander Isak and Joshua Zirkzee have been some of the other forwards linked to an Emirates Stadium switch but Sesko joining is now starting to look the most likely. Interest from Chelsea and Manchester United in the 21-year-old could play a role in deciding Sesko's future, however new updates suggest Arsenal are the favourites for his signature.
The Slovenia international has only been at Leipzig for one season but the €65million (£55m) release clause in his current contract makes it hard to imagine he stays for another campaign. With all of that being said, football.london has taken a look at all the updates surrounding Sesko and a potential transfer to Arsenal.
£45m offer prepared
According to a report by the Mirror, Arsenal currently value Sesko at £45million despite his release clause suggesting otherwise.
Leipzig are expected to demand that fee is paid in full but the Gunners could find a way of avoiding that and still winning the transfer battle for his services.
Sesko stance
Of all the clubs interested in Sesko, the player himself wants to sign for Arsenal, as per the Mirror. Arteta will undoubtedly be pleased by that update with the Gunners boss often not interested in players that do not clearly want the move.
Arteta priority
Prior to Sesko's stance being made clear, another report from The Mirror emerged that revealed Sesko is Arteta's No.1 attacking transfer target. Ajax's Brian Bobbey was mentioned as a potential alternative but that now looks unlikely.
Ivan Toney and Evan Ferguson have both been on the club's radar, while interest in Newcastle's Isak has cooled.
Chelsea decision
Interest in Sesko from the other side of London is also prominent with Chelsea eyeing up a summer deal.
Napoli star Victor Osimhen has been linked to the Blues but they have now made the decision he will not be a target with no talks or negotiations ongoing which may suggest Sesko is their top priority.
Contract extension
Amid all the interest from the Premier League, Leipzig are keen to tie down Sesko to a new contract.
According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, the German club have made contact with Sesko’s agent in recent days to offer new lucrative deal.
