Alexander Isak reveals chances of Arsenal transfer after Mikel Arteta recommendation

Alexander Isak insists he "loves everything about Newcastle" as he appeared to quash rumours of a move away.
The Swede has been linked with a switch away from St James' Park after another stellar campaign in the north east. Isak has just completed his second season with Newcastle, scoring 25 times and being nominated for the Player of the Season award.

Isak cost Newcastle just over £50million when they signed him two summers ago, but he could command double that now if he were to move on. Arsenal are among those linked with the 24-year-old as they eye more firepower, but the player himself seems more than content with the Magpies.

In response to the rumours linking him with a move elsewhere he told Swedish outlet Fotbollskanalen : "I’m enjoying myself very, very much in Newcastle. I just had the best season of my career. That should not be underestimated. I love everything really about the club, the fans, the city."

Isak added: "I actually have no thoughts of a move or anything like that. I enjoy myself fantastically well and am very happy with my life."

There has been talk of Newcastle, whose ambitious owners want to continue investing, selling one of their top assets to remain compliant with the Premier League's profit and sustainability rules. Isak, as well as Bruno Guimarães, are the two most sellable players in the squad.

The Swede though maintains there is no talk in the group of a big name leaving. He said: "It is not something I am speculating on. Within the team and the club there has been no talk or drama around it. I have not received any information from the club that they would need to sell me."

Arsenal played in the final months of the season without a recognised striker as Mikel Arteta instead opted to use Kai Havertz in a false 9 role. Paul Merson believes going after Isak would be the ideal signing for the north Londoners as they eye a regular supply of goals.

The former Arsenal favourite told SportsKeeda: “They [Newcastle] are a massive team, but I wouldn’t be surprised if some of their stars moved on to win trophies. If Arsenal sign a striker like Isak, I think they go to another level.”
