Arsenal and Juventus on red alert as Aston Villa consider selling star player

Aston Villa are considering selling midfielder Douglas Luiz this month to ease PSR concerns, talkSPORT understands.

Villa suffered a blow when their Premier League rivals voted against their proposal to raise the amount clubs can lose over a three-year period from £105million to £135m.

As a result they are under pressure to raise cash before the end of the current PSR period on June 30.

Luiz is attracting interest from Italian giants Juventus who finished last season in third spot in Serie A.

Juve are currently looking for a new boss following the decision to relieve Massimiliano Allegri of his duties.

Arsenal are also long-term admirers of Luiz.

The Brazil star enjoyed a brilliant campaign for Villa in which he scored 10 times and provided 10 assists in 53 appearances.

Unai Emery's side are preparing to play in the Champions League next term with Luiz set to play a key role in that if he sticks around.

But with Villa feeling the pressure of PSR concerns, he could be allowed to move on.

The Brazilian midfielder started his career with Vasco de Gama, before joining Manchester City in 2017.

After two loan spells with Girona, Luiz completed a £15million move to Aston Villa in 2019, becoming a key player in the four and a half years that have followed.

Aston Villa are already looking at midfield additions for this summer.

However they'll need to fork out £50million if they're to strike a deal for the England midfielder.

With Matteo Guendouzi also linked, Villa could be set for a new-look midfield as they prepare for a potential life without Luiz.
