Arsenal have now formally asked about signing 'amazing' player who exited Euro 2024 this weekend - Romano

Arsenal’s quest for new players is taking them far and wide and Fabrizio Romano has confirmed they’re looking at a Euro 2024 star.

The Gunners are keen to strengthen a number of areas this summer and are making enquiries for players to fill those positions.
Arsenal fans, of course, would like to see attack minded players come into the club to help bridge the gap to Manchester City.

However, it is in defence where Mikel Arteta is also looking, and more specifically, at a defender who can play on the left side of a four and a three.

Indeed, that search has led them to different names but according to Fabrizio Romano, the Gunners have now made an enquiry for a defender at Euro 2024.

Arsenal have asked about signing Riccardo Calafiori
Speaking for GiveMeSport, Romano has shared what he knows about Arsenal and their interest in Italian defender Calafiori.

“For Calafiori, Arsenal made an enquiry to understand the situation of the player. I mean, it’s also normal when you are looking for a left-footed player, a left-foot defender. Riccardo Calafiori is one of the best available now on the market,” Romano said.

“So Arsenal have been showing their interest in the situation. But at the moment, it’s not a negotiation. There is no bid, there is no contact with Bologna, so it’s just an enquiry to understand the situation of Calafiori.”

Calafiori has also been linked with a move to other English clubs this summer.

Lauded for his ‘amazing‘ performances in the Euros, a deal for Calafiori may now be easier given Italy’s exit at the hands of Switzerland today.

Bologna want around £29m for their man.
