The Aston Villa midfielder has just enjoyed a stellar year and played a key role in the Midlands outfit reaching the Champions League. He scored ten times and provided a further ten assists as his stock continued to rise.
Villa, having previously rejected bids for the Brazilian, may have to sell this summer with the club will still need to offset new signings by player sales in order to comply with the Premier League's profit and sustainability rules. The 20 top-flight outfits who are under pressure to meet the Premier League’s financial rules will need to sell players before the deadline on June 30.
It could force Unai Emery into cashing in with Arsenal having a long-standing interest in Luiz. Villa though have made it clear how much they'd expected for the player.
Luiz would represent a significant profit for Villa if he was moved on as he joined the club in a £15m deal from Manchester City in 2019. Arsenal have previously seen a £25m offer rejected, that coming back in 2022.
Juventus and AC Milan too are keen with some reports stating the Old Lady are leading the race for Luiz. They could propose a swap deal which would see United States midfielder Weston McKennie, who was once on loan at Leeds, head to Villa Park.
Villa have held talks with Conor Gallagher over a summer switch from Chelsea. The Blues star has been identified as a top target and, if he were to leave west London, that deal would cost Villa in the region of £50m.

Emery, who recently signed a new long-term deal with the club, said back in January: "We are trying to keep to Financial Fair Play while holding on to the best players in our squad. But of course we are not closed off to selling someone if a very good offer comes in and it gives us the possibility to improve our FFP position.
"We are going to work with respect to the rules. However, we must be sure we do not lose our potential as a team — even if we have to sell some players. It can be dangerous when you sell players just to have money. It can be difficult to replace them while remaining successful."
