Arsenal transfer news: Gabriel Martinelli offers verdict as fresh talks held over exit

The 2024 summer transfer window has been open for just under a week but Arsenal are yet to spring into action.

The Gunners have been backed to make a host of signings as they aim to cut the gap to Premier League champions Manchester City. That does not mean work hasn’t been going on behind the scenes.

Mikel Arteta has already set out his summer shopping list which could include a midfielder, wideman and a new striker. The Spaniard already has targets in mind so work is underway to tempt them to North London.

PSR might force the Gunners’ hand and force them into cashing in on a few current stars. Take a look at all of the latest transfer news and rumours:

Martinelli breaks silence on transfers
Brazilian forward Gabriel Martinelli has revealed his trust in Mikel Arteta and Edu, amid rumours that Arsenal are attempting to sign a new forward this summer. Speaking to Spanish outlet AS, he said: “The people who play at Arsenal are very good.

“The club has to have the best players to have a chance of being champions. We have an outstanding team, with many players of incredible quality.

“The ones who define the issue of signings are Edu Gaspar and Arteta. It depends on them. We have to work on the field and leave that part of the signings to them.”

AC Milan reopen Kiwior talks
One man who could be set to leave the Emirates this summer is Polish defender Jakub Kiwior. According to Calciomercato, the Polish centre-back is once again at the heart of interest from Italian giants AC Milan.

The Serie A side are long term admirers of the former Spezia star. It is suggested that talks have been reopened regarding a move.

Milan director Geoffrey Moncada has opened dialogue with Kiwior’s representatives to find out Arsenal’s plans. The Gunners are apparently not keen on letting him leave, particularly with five years left on his deal.

Gunners face Zirkzee battle
On the topic of AC Milan, the Italian side could represent real competition in the race for Joshua Zirkzee. Arsenal were one of a number of sides to express an interest in the Dutchman following a standout season forBologna.

Zirkzee has a £34million release clause in his deal. While AC Milan and Arsenal are interested, there is also serious competition from elsewhere in the Premier League.

According to Sky in Germany via Football Italia, Manchester United are ready to step up their pursuit. Milan currently have doubts about paying a €15m commission to Zirkzee’s agent Kia Joorabchian, something that the Red Devils would have no trouble doing.
