In the final six Premier League games of Jurgen Klopp's tenure, Nunez started just once with his last goal of the most recent campaign coming against Sheffield United in early April. As a result, exit links began emerging with Nunez then deleting all of his Liverpool-related posts on Instagram which further fuelled the fire.
However, it currently looks as though Arne Slot will have Nunez in his squad for the 2024/25 season considering there is minimal concrete talk of a transfer elsewhere. Just a few weeks after Slot's appointment was confirmed, Nunez sent a clear message to the club's new head coach by scoring a hat-trick in Uruguay's 4-0 win over Mexico.
Fresh off that message to Slot, Nunez has shocked Liverpool supporters with his latest new hairstyle captured in Uruguay training. The former Benfica man has previously had cornrows but he has now added a new feature to that with tightly-knit ball located at the base of his head.

Given the legendary strikers that have played for Uruguay in recent years, which includes former Liverpool man Luis Suarez, there is certainly pressure on Nunez's shoulders to deliver. Thankfully he is in far better form for his country with his treble earlier this month taking his total to eight goals and three assists in just seven appearances since the World Cup.

Darwin Nunez drops five-word hint over Liverpool future after transfer admission
With that in mind, Suarez has already endorsed Nunez ahead of their country's Copa America beginning in the early hours of Monday morning back in the UK. "Today he is one of the best centre forwards in the world,” Suarez told AUF TV, quoted by ESPN when asked about Nunez. “I love how he plays and I love watching him.
"Since Darwin was in Penarol I had been talking to him, through someone else. There was a game in which he scored three goals that caught my attention.
“At that time it was said that he missed a lot of goals, but he also generated a lot. They criticised me for the same reason, but the important thing is that he always tried to overcome, he never gave up."
