GOOD NEWS: Big Gyokeres update this morning

Arsenal are not willing to meet Viktor Gyokeres’ release clause despite their desire to bring in a new striker, sources have told Football Insider.
Reports have suggested the Gunners will turn attention to the Sweden international, 26, after missing out on RB Leipzig star Benjamin Sesko – who signed a new contract with the German side.

But sources say Arsenal are not willing to meet Sporting CP’s valuation of Gyokeres despite that new blow – with the Portuguese champions holding out for his full £86million release clause.

They only brought the ex-Coventry man to Lisbon last summer (2023) for a reported fee of £21million.

Gyokeres has since taken his scoring game to a new level for Ruben Amorim’s side and is now firmly on the radar at Arsenal – who do hold a genuine interest in the ex-Brighton man.

Arsenal won’t pay Gyokeres’ £86m release clause
However, Mikel Arteta and his recruitment staff are not willing to pay over the odds to land the Stockholm-born hitman.

Gyokeres hit 43 goals in 50 games across all competitions in the 2023-24 campaign, also chipping in with 15 assists as Sporting won Liga Portugal.

He is under contract until June 2028.

Arsenal
It is believed club chiefs are happy to allow Kai Havertz to continue leading the line for Arteta’s side if the right man isn’t available this summer.

The Gunners finished second in the Premier League last term, two points behind Man City.
