'I rejected Liverpool and world's most-wanted boss thinks I'm class - I may join Chelsea'

Chelsea are reportedly eyeing a move for Bayer Leverkusen's Jonathan Tah. The defensive powerhouse was instrumental in Xabi Alonso's side clinching the Bundesliga title with an impressive record of 28 victories and six draws, without suffering a single defeat.

The team also triumphed in the DFB-Pokal, overcoming FC Kaiserslautern despite having 10 men for half the game, and narrowly missed out on Europa League glory, with their only loss of the season coming at the hands of Atalanta in the final.

Alonso, who is one of the most-desired bosses in Europe at the minute, lavished praise on his centre-back last month, stating: "Overall, Jonha is performing at the highest level and I am really happy for him because he deserves all the praise and all the good moments he's living - that he keeps playing for us and happily for the national team as well. I think he is one of the world's best defenders."

However, with Tah's contract set to expire next year, Leverkusen face a challenge to keep hold of their star defender. Chelsea, who are keen to bolster their defence for the upcoming Premier League season following Thiago Silva's departure, could see Tah as an ideal addition to their ranks, reports Football London.

Enzo Maresca's outfit looks increasingly likely to sign Fulham star Tosin Adarabioyo, who is out on contract at the end of the month, but the Italian coach could be looking to bring Tah in too according to journalist Christian Falk.

Germany v Ukraine - International Friendly
Jonathan Tah is a key figure for both Leverkusen and Germany
He has made 353 appearances for the club in all competitions, while also achieving 24 caps for Germany since 2016. The 28-year-old has been included in Germany's provisional Euro 2024 squad and is expected to make the final cut after a sensational season under Alonso.
