'It's my dream' - Arsenal defender Gabriel makes surprise transfer admission and reveals the new club he's joining

WHAT HAPPENED?
Gabriel has revealed that he has been a big fan of Brazilian Serie A side Corinthians since a young age and that he would happily represent the Sao Paulo-based club. The defender went as far as saying that if Corinthians came calling, he would 'join tomorrow'.
WHAT GABRIEL SAID
The Arsenal star appeared on YouTuber Cartoloucos' channel, and said [via ESPN Brasil]: "My favourite club? Corinthians, that’s since I was born. And today I don’t think it has to be any different. I still go to Corinthians games by train. It’s my dream, I want to play for Corinthians, I want to feel that energy. It’s something to think about. Sometimes I stop and think, ‘Do I dream of playing for Corinthians?’ I do.

"When would I play for Corinthians? For me, I’d be at Corinthians tomorrow. I hope it doesn’t take me long because I want to feel the energy of those fans, who are incredible, as soon as possible."

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Under Arteta, the Brazilian has formed a formidable defensive partnership with Frenchman William Saliba as the Gunners boasted the best defence in the Premier League last season despite missing narrowly missing out on the title to Manchester City. The Brazilian has a contract with Arsenal until the summer of 2027 and is expected to remain with the side for the foreseeable future.

WHAT NEXT FOR GABRIEL?
The Arsenal centre-back will now play a major part for Dorival Junior's Brazil squad as they look to dethrone defending World Cup and Copa America champions Argentina this summer.
