Mikel Arteta will be eager to strengthen his squad this summer having ran Manchester City for the Premier League title.
It’s become evident that they perhaps need one or two quality additions to bridge the gap and with that said, one of their summer targets is open to leaving Barcelona.
Mika Faye considering Barcelona future amid Arsenal links
According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona centre-back Mika Faye is considering his future at the club after Arsenal’s strong interest in recent hours.
The Senegalese centre-back, who has ‘world class’ potential, is also attracting interest from Premier League duo Manchester United and Liverpool.
Bayern Munich and Inter are in the race for his signature, too, so evidently Arsenal will have to fend off stiff competition.
Faye has impressed in Barca’s academy side but failed to make a single appearance for the first team, prompting him to consider a departure.
Barcelona could sanction a £17m sale
Barcelona are thought to be pondering on whether to sell Faye as he could help to balance their financial books.
The 2004-born could generate as much as £17m this summer despite making just 14 senior appearances in European football.
If Arsenal do land his signature, surely he’d be phased in and used as a rotational defender, rather than replacing one of Gabriel or William Saliba.
Indeed, Faye would join with the view of becoming a fixture of Arteta’s side and given his age, he has plenty of time to develop and grow into his system.
