'Not the time': £51m player now suggests he does not want Arsenal move, amid reports Edu was about to bid

A rumoured Arsenal target has poured cold water on a move to North London.

Mikel Arteta’s men will be eager to pip Manchester City to the Premier League title in the fast-approaching season.

Having missed out by two points the previous term, it’s evident they aren’t far from bridging the gap on their title rivals.

One or two first-class additions could do it this window, though, quotes have just emerged which suggest they may fail to land a rumoured target.

Johan Bakayoko suggests he doesn’t want Arsenal move
Bakayoko is currently away with Belgium at the European Championships in Germany as they prepare to face France in the round of 16 tomorrow.

The £51m-rated wide player enjoyed a phenomenal season with PSV last term, netting 14 times whilst laying on as many assists.

That had promoted Arsenal’s interest and there were even reports suggesting a bid from Edu was about to arrive.

However, Bakayoko has now poured cold water on a potential move to the Emirates Stadium by making it clear that he does not want to leave the Eredivisie club.

“But I never said I want to leave PSV, others have done that in my place. If something comes up, you have to think about it, but now is not the time. I’m not thinking about a transfer here, I’m thinking about how I can do my best here,” the 21-year-old said.

Johan Bakayoko may be open to move after Euro 2024
Bakayoko was quite adamant in his stance that now is not the time to discuss his future and whilst he also states his desire to stay at PSV, it seems he may be open to a move after the tournament.

Further, if Arsenal do cough up the money and meet his asking price, it’s likely PSV will sanction his sale, anyhow.

A telling few weeks lie ahead, as Arteta looks to add a wide player to his ranks.
