Sesko paves way for Arsenal exit with club in 'pole position' for transfer

Eddie Nketiah reportedly has a host of Premier League clubs interested in his signature amid a possible departure to pave way for Benjamin Sesko.

Arsenal have been strongly linked with a move for the RB Leipzig striker who is likely to depart the Bundesliga team this summer. His performances in his debut campaign in Germany caught the eye, with him scoring 18 goals in 42 appearances.

He is thought to favour a move to the Premier League with his agent Elvis Basanovic spotted at Arsenal matches this season. Arsenal are confident they can find room to negotiate down the player's reported release clause of £45million but might have to fend off interest from Manchester United and Chelsea.

Sesko will decide whether to sign a new contract or to seek a new opportunity elsewhere before the start of the European Championships in Germany on June 14. But Sesko's possible arrival at the Emirates Stadium may push Nketiah out of the door.

Nketiah, who made 37 appearances in all competitions this season, will know that he is set to fall down the pecking order and could look for regular football elsewhere. Well, he wouldn't be short of options.

According to the Sun, Fulham are in 'pole position' to take the striker to Craven Cottage, and would be willing to pay £30m for his services. However, Crystal Palace and Wolverhampton Wanderers are also monitoring his situation.

Everton are also mentioned as a potential destination, though the Merseysiders are said to be interested in a potential year-long loan. This option could appeal more to the hierarchy with Arsenal claimed to be reluctant to sell him.

However, a permanent move would free up cash for the club who are determined to sign Sesko this summer.
