According to a report by Gianluca Monti of La Gazzetta dello Sport, Napoli’s Victor Osimhen is waiting for Arsenal to enter into negotiations for him. The Gunners are yet to register a significant interest in the player but they are searching for a striker and that could lead them to the Nigerian striker.
Arsenal’s Premier League counterparts Chelsea gained momentum in talks for a potential player exchange deal for Romelu Lukaku and Osimhen but the move fell through midway.
Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis wants the entire €130 million release clause inserted in the player’s contract and he is willing to wait for a wealthy suitor. However, he will not be keeping the 25-year-old next season as his salary will rise to an astounding €10 million which would create problems in the club’s wage bill.
Osimhen is expected to welcome offers from Saudi Arabia too and the Middle-Eastern clubs should have the adequate financial resources to materialise a permanent transfer for him. All eyes on Arsenal now to see how they react in the coming days.
