The Gunners will be desperate to finally end their 20-year wait for a Premier League title in the fast-approaching season.
To do that, they’ll likely have to finish ahead of Manchester City, who are arguably the best team in the world.
That said, they’re interested in signing a City player but face one problem.
Arsenal want to sign Yan Couto but face Juventus competition
According to the The Standard, Arsenal are interested in signing Manchester City defender Yan Couto this summer.
Couto hasn’t actually played a senior game for City but has really impressed out on loan with La Liga outfit Girona over the past two seasons.
The 22-year-old laid on a whopping 10 assists from right-back last term, helping his side to finish in third, thus qualifying for the Champions League.
Such form has gathered interest from Tottenham Hotspur, Real Madrid and Barcelona but it’s Juventus who are set to advance for Couto – providing Arsenal with a problem.
Manchester City would rather sell to Juventus
If there were no other suitors for Couto, Manchester City probably wouldn’t have too much of an issue selling to Arsenal, as evinced by the sales of Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus in 2022.
However, with Juventus now poised to submit a bid, City would surely rather sell to the Italian side, thus ruling Arsenal.
They won’t want to strengthen a title rival, so at this stage, Couto to Arsenal looks very unlikely whilst Juventus remain interested.
Perhaps The Gunners should switch their attention to Ferdi Kadioglu, who is an extremely versatile full-back for Turkey and Fenerbahce.
