Arsenal can now sign 'world class' player for free after club make official announcement

It has been a while since Arsenal took advantage of the free agent market.

Not since August 2020 have the Gunners completed a free transfer – when Mikel Arteta and Edu Gaspar moved to sign Willian after his contract with Chelsea expired.

Now – however – Arsenal have the chance to make their first free transfer in almost four years…

Arsenal can now sign Adrien Rabiot for free
Juventus have now announced that Adrien Rabiot will be leaving Turin after his contract expired.

It comes after TEAMtalk claimed that Arsenal are keen to sign the France international this summer to bolster the midfield department, with many expecting Thomas Partey to be sold.

Rabiot’s contract actually expired at the start of July, although a decision on his future had been delayed due to France’s involvement in UEFA Euro 2024.

Now – however – the Frenchman has decided to try something new, which could lead him to join Arsenal and become a Premier League player, in a country he has never previously played his football.

Rabiot – who David Trezeguet once called a “world class” footballer – scored five goals and also provided three assists in 31 Serie A appearances last season.

The 29-year-old was clearly a beloved figure at Juventus, with the Italian giants writing the following in their heartfelt announcement of the news.

“On the pitch, Adrien was a vital player to Juventus, particularly without the ball. His work rate could not be called into question, and he made huge improvements to his offensive game in recent seasons.”

Mikel Arteta and Edu must enquire
Amid a time where the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) are making clubs think twice before spending heavily, Arsenal must take advantage of this freebie.

Rabiot would presumably have few problems settling in at Arsenal, where he can lean on his fellow countryman William Saliba for help in getting to know north London.

Furthermore, the financial benefits of selling Partey for a fee – it is believed Arsenal want £10m for the Ghana international – while replacing him with a free transfer could even allow Arteta room in the budget for another signing later on in the window.

The Arsenal No.5 also earns £200,000-a-week at the Emirates Stadium, so a sale would be incredibly beneficial.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Arsenal are now free to make contact with Rabiot – a deal could even be done outside of the transfer window due to his newfound status as a free agent.
