Arsenal could make two ‘very decent’ signings after signing Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna - journalist

Arsenal’s transfer window seems to finally be heating up as they close in on the signing of Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna.

The Italy international is said to be on his way to London to undergo a medical with Arsenal, and it may not be long before he’s announced as the Gunners’ first major new signing of the summer.

Of course, Calafiori is set to be Arsenal’s first big signing, but he may not be the last.

Speaking on the Ranks FC Ultras Podcast, Dean Jones has been discussing what Arsenal may do after bringing Calafiori in.

The journalist says he still expects a new midfielder and a new attacker to come in this summer, claiming that two more quality players could be added to the squad before the summer is over.

Arsenal could make two more exciting signings
Jones shared what he knows about Arsenal’s transfer plans.

“They can start to look forward to what they’re going to do next. The midfield was always going to be in focus. We are now starting to hear more about interest they have,” Jones said.

“In the last 48 hours Fabian Ruiz has started to come through as a target for Arsenal, and Mikel Merino is still there as an Arsenal target.”

“They will still be looking for an attacker as well. I do still expect that as well as Calafiori there will be two very decent players if not top quality players coming into Arsenal this summer.”

Arsenal are so close
Arsenal aren’t set for a blockbuster summer of new additions, but, to be honest, they don’t need to be all that active.

Indeed, Arsenal came within touching distance of winning the Premier League last season, and they need evolution rather than revolution.

Arsenal just need to add more depth and a bit more competition and they will be at that Premier League-winning level, and with an extra midfielder and an extra attacker in the mix, the Gunners will be in good shape to go and leapfrog Manchester City.
