Arsenal handed triple boost before Man United as Saka makes surprise decision

Mikel Arteta will have three new players available to him for Arsenal training sessions in the midst of their USA pre-season tour. The Gunners completed their first friendly overseas earlier this week with a penalty shoot-out victory coming after a 1-1 draw against Bournemouth.

Martin Odegaard, Reiss Nelson and Jurrien Timber all impressed in the outing, though Omar Rekik struggled while Thomas Partey and Eddie Nketiah found it hard to stamp their mark on the game with both players linked to potential summer departures.

With several Arsenal stars reaching the latter stages of both the European championships and Copa America, a number of fringe players and academy stars got their chance to impress.

Emile Smith Rowe was not among those that featured though with Arsenal having agreed a deal up to £35million to sell him to Fulham, as football.london understands. Following the game, Arteta was asked specifically about the 23-year-old with his answer telling of Smith Rowe's future at Emirates Stadium.

"Yeah there are things happening in the background at the moment," he said to reporters after the game. "We decided the best thing to do was to keep him away from the game today." Though Smith Rowe could leave the club over the coming days, Arteta will have his squad boosted by three arrivals.

As was the plan, revealed in a club statement regarding the pre-season tour, Gabriel Martinelli, Kai Havertz and Gabriel have all joined up with the squad. The trio are now expected to partake in training on Friday with the Gunners back in action this weekend when they face Manchester United in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Any of Havertz, Gabriel or Martinelli featuring at SoFi Stadium is unlikely though, with the three players only competing in just a few full training session prior to the clash against their Premier League rivals. Bukayo Saka is another close to returning though it is plausible he does not play a part in the club's US tour.

Despite that, Saka has been spotted in Los Angeles taking pictures with supporters, though he is not expected to formally report back to training until early August.
