Arsenal have just booked 'talented' player in for medical after reaching full agreement - Fabrizio Romano

Arsenal are now closing in on their first signing of the summer transfer window after being made to wait an entire month.
The Gunners have endured a slow start in the market with the international competitions potentially playing their part.

Mikel Arteta‘s side come into the summer knowing there are only fine margins separating them and Manchester City.

Arsenal only finished two points off City last season which could suggest some quality additions this summer could very easily turn the tables in the 2024/25 campaign.

However, Arsenal are also looking to add to their squad depth over the coming weeks and they are looking set to announce their first signing with a medical now booked in.

Arsenal book in medical for ‘talented’ player
The Gunners have been in search of a third-choice goalkeeper this summer with bids going in for two players.

Naturally, Wolves quickly declined that offer and saw the Gunners turn their attention elsewhere.

Having looked elsewhere, Arsenal now look set to land themselves one of England’s talented youth goalkeepers.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal have now booked in Ajax goalkeeper Charlie Setford for his medical.

The two clubs have found an agreement for around £840k to sign the 20-year-old Englishman.

Setford is expected to sign a four-year deal with the north London side where he will become Arteta’s third-choice goalkeeper.

The ‘talented‘ England youth international has already shared his desire to one day play in the Premier League and it looks that dream is taking a big step closer.

Arsenal now to turn their attention to Riccardo Calafiori
After seeing Riccardo Calafiori agree to personal terms, the talks between Arsenal and Bologna have taken a real blow of late.

Almost two weeks on from the player agreeing a five-year deal with the Gunners, there has been no agreement struck between the two clubs.

Calafiori is clearly Arsenal’s big target for the summer having impressed at Euro 2024 but they are seriously struggling to get past this impasse.

There are some complications in a potential deal for Calafiori with his former side FC Basel holding a sell-on clause which is driving the price up on Bologna’s end.

But this is a deal which Arsenal fans will be keen to see over the line soon after watching him in the Euros.
