Arsenal issue subtle Obi-Martin transfer update with contract announcement

Arsenal look to have announced a major striker transfer decision following extensive Mikel Arteta talks. The Gunners have been linked to a number of elite-level centre-forwards ahead of the 2024/25 season, with Benjamin Sesko initially topping that list.

Due to his £55million release clause, the Gunners saw signing the RB Leipzig star as a superb market opportunity; however, he opted to remain in Germany and sign a new contract. Alexander Isak, Viktor Gyokeres, Ollie Watkins and Victor Osimhen have been other options mentioned; however, none of that quartet looks set to come in.

Gabriel Jesus has also been linked with a transfer to Saudi Arabia, but the one striker definitely set for an exit is academy starlet Chido Obi-Martin.

On Tuesday afternoon, Arsenal released a statement confirming their new first-year scholars with Obi-Martin, who would have been included if he signed a new contract, notably absent. As such, it all but confirms his impending departure with the striker of interest to several teams across Europe.

Bayern Munich, Newcastle, AS Monaco, Eintracht Frankfurt and Manchester United have all made contact, with the 16-year-old even visiting the latter. Arsenal boss Arteta is said to have held face-to-face talks with the teenager, which resulted in confidence building that he would stay; however, that is clearly not going to happen.

Despite Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe emerging onto the scene recently after graduating the Hale End academy, no other Arsenal talents have really been given the chance to break onto the scene, with it clear getting into first-team is far more attainable at other clubs.
