After a slow start to the summer transfer window, Arsenal are now starting to accelerate their business having just completed the signing of Bologna defender Riccardo Calafiori.
A midfield is thought to be on their list of targets with Mikel Merino linked and also an attacker, with one fresh link emerging over the last few hours.
Arsenal target Leroy Sane hails Mikel Arteta
Arsenal are keen on signing Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sane this summer transfer window and the German has already hailed Arteta in the past.
Having worked together at Manchester City, when Arteta was assistant manager to Pep Guardiola, Sane revealed how important he was in developing his game.
“Thanks to him and his ideas, I improved quickly. I still have them in my head and try to implement them in games,” the 28-year-old said in April, via Sky Sports.
It’s understood that the pair have a great relationship, so Arteta will be hopeful of convincing the former City attacker of a move to North London.
Leroy Sane prefers to remain at Bayern Munich
Sky Germany believe Sane prefers to remain at Bayern Munich this summer and he’s currently in talks over extending his contract, which is due to expire next year.
Though, if he fails to agree fresh terms, Arsenal appear well-positioned to move for the £55m-rated wide player.
Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams also remains a target, though, Barcelona seem to be leading the race for his signature.
