Arsenal transfer news: Gunners handed transfer boost as Nico Williams speaks out

Arsenal's wait for a new signing continues to drag on, with Mikel Arteta growing publicly frustrated.

The Gunners have only brought in goalkeeper David Raya this summer, with that move having long been expected. They are continuing to push for a deal for Riccardo Calafiori, though there remains several stumbling blocks to an agreement.

Boss Arteta is aware that a number of new additions are needed if his side are to again challenge for the Premier League title. And as his side jet out to the United States for a pre-season tour, it appears the Spaniard is growing restless.

There are just over three weeks remaining before the Gunners kick off their season with the visit of Wolves. Here, Mirror Football rounds up all the latest Arsenal transfer news.

Brobbey boost received
Arsenal's hopes of signing Brian Brobbey have been handed a major boost. Brobbey has been linked with being brought to the Gunners to provide back-up to star winger Buykayo Saka.

The 22-year-old has come through the ranks at Ajax, scoring 22 goals and notching 12 assists in all competitions last season. But according to Sky Germany, the attacker looks set to leave the Johan Cruyff Arena.

Though he contract has another three years to run, Ajax are said to have received 'many enquiries'. Brobbey's preference is understood to be a move to the Premier League, potentially bringing Arsenal into play.

Williams responds to speculation
Nico Williams is staying coy on his future
Nico Williams is remaining calm despite the speculation surrounding his future. The attacker starred for Spain as they won Euro 2024 this summer, having also helped Athletic Bilbao lift the Copa del Rey last season.

Arsenal have been heavily linked with a move for the 22-year-old as they look to boost their attacking options. But Bilbao boss Ernesto Valverde has insisted that Williams will be remaining in the Basque Country.

Williams has now responded to Valverde's confident prediction. He took to Instagram, posting a picture of a sunset from the side of a boat on his story, with the caption: "calm down" with a head massage emoji.

Arteta's growing frustration
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta appears to be growing frustrated with the lack of business this summer. The Spaniard has admitted that several additions are needed if his side are to challenge Manchester City this summer.

"We know there are certain positions that we want to improve and give the squad better resources, especially in terms of numbers where we are very short. We will try our best but the main thing is to focus on falling in love with the players we have and make them better," he said.

"From day one, I'd have everyone. That would be my choice" – there appears to be optimism. I don't know [if new signings will join the squad on tour]. There's still a lot to go in the window. Edu, the board and everyone at the club are working hard."
