Arsenal transfer news: Riccardo Calafiori talks continue as Mikel Arteta identifies new target

Arsenal are yet to make a signing this summer but speculation over transfer activity is beginning to ramp up.

The Gunners have spent heavily in the past two summer transfer windows as they bid to prise the Premier League title out of Manchester City's grasp and Mikel Arteta is expected to be backed heavily again after another fine season.

It's believed Arteta is in the market for another central midfielder and attacking reinforcements, although the Spaniard has already missed out on one top target with Benjamin Sesko opting to stay at Red Bull Leipzig.

Arsenal are expected to be active in the market, though, so with that in mind, Mirror Football rounds up all the latest transfer news from in and around The Emirates...

Arsenal advance Calafiori talks
Arsenal and Bologna are set for further talks over a deal for Riccardo Calafiori this week, it has been claimed.

The versatile defender, 22, caught the eye for Italy in their Euro 2024 campaign prior to their exit and has been heavily linked with the Gunners in recent weeks.

A new report from The Mail has now claimed that talks with Bologna over a fee for Calafiori are set to take place this week with Arsenal to get him on board before they head off on their pre-season tour of the United States.

Dan Bentley has emerged as a surprise target for Arsenal
Arsenal have made contact with Wolves to express their interest in their second-choice goalkeeper, Dan Bentley.

Bentley, 30, joined Wolves from Bristol City back in January 2023 and has made five Premier League appearances in total for Gary O'Neil's side.

The Gunners have already signed David Raya on a permanent basis after he impressed on loan last season but, as per The Athletic, Bentley is also of interest. His arrival could signal the end of Aaron Ramsdale's spell at the club, with the England international expected to depart this summer.

Lokonga set for Sevilla
Sevilla are trying to do a deal for Albert Sambi Lokonga
Talks between Arsenal and Sevilla over a deal for Albert Sambi Lokonga are accelerating, according to Sky Sports.

The Belgian midfielder revealed earlier this summer that he had been told he was free to find a new club after spending the second half of last season on loan at Luton Town.

Sevilla have been in talks with the Gunners over a deal to bring Lokonga to Spain and it's said those talks are now advancing. It's claimed the deal would initially be a loan but with various performance related conditions which would turn the move permanent.
