A permanent move for David Raya has already been rubber-stamped after the Euro 2024-winning Spaniard spent last season on loan with the Gunners. He displaced England's Aaron Ramsdale between the posts.
The club are keen on signing another midfielder this summer, while a versatile forward is also on the shopping list. Italian defender Riccardo Calafiori is set to sign, meanwhile, after Arsenal agreed a £38million fee with Bologna for his signature and the 22-year-old should pitch up imminently.
Here, football.london looks at three incomings that could be completed before the curtain raiser;
Riccardo Calafiori
football.london understands an agreement worth £38million plus add-ons has been reached for Calafiori and he will arrive in north London shortly to complete his medical and the necessary paperwork. The 22-year-old can play at centre-back or left-back - offering Arteta even more quality and balance in his squad.
Exactly what that means for Oleksandr Zinchenko, for example, is anyone's guess and the deal for Calafiori is quite the coup for Arsenal given how much he impressed at Euro 2024 this summer. There would have been no shortage of takers for the soon-to-be former Bologna player, who has been capped five times by Italy.
The sooner he gets here, the better. With a few weeks to go until the curtain raiser, Calafiori has plenty of time to get up to speed and etch his name on to the team sheet for that one
Mikel Merino
It could be a 50-50 coin toss for Arsenal in their ongoing search for a midfielder this summer and, as co-incidence would have it, they both currently play for Real Sociedad, too. So will it be Mikel Merino or Martin Zubimendi who pitches up at the Emirates Stadium in time for next season?
football.london understands Edu, Arteta and other decision makers at the club want somebody to complement Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard in their engine room. Merino and Zubimendi could do that, with Merino offering up a more experienced, cut-price option and Zubimendi potentially being a little more expensive on account of his age and the fact he has several potential suitors in the market.
Both men, naturally, play second fiddle to City talisman Rodri with Spain - although Merino actually outperformed La Roja's vice captain in one key metric last season. Sociedad are in a rush to sort out Merino's future as he has only 12 months to run on his contract there.
Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres.
Gyokeres scored 29 goals in 33 matches last season.
Viktor Gyokeres
Arsenal went goals galore last season, even without a 'proper' No.9 to lead their line, while Kai Havertz impressed as a 'false nine' after replacing Gabriel Jesus in the preferred team. Viktor Gyokeres represents an intriguing option, for Arsenal and other top-level European clubs such as Chelsea.
This time 18 months ago, he was playing for Coventry City in the EFL Championship. Now, after banging them in for Sporting Lisbon last season, the Sweden regular is red-hot property.
Gyokeres totted-up 29 goals in 33 matches. That's some going and, despite concerns over his possible transfer fee - with £80million to £100million mooted depending on where you look - the money is worth paying if Arsenal reckon he can replicate that sort of form in the Premier League.
Edu and co might just need to work their magic and sanction one or two sales first.
