Darwin Nunez unleashed, £100m plan – Dream Liverpool forward line with Nico Williams and Dani Olmo

Liverpool's preparations for the new Premier League season are underway at the AXA Training Centre as Arne Slot oversaw his first sessions as the Reds' head coach earlier this month. The Dutchman was appointed as Jurgen Klopp's successor back in May.

Slot, though, has only been able to work with a handful of the Reds' stars as the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Alexis Mac Allister, Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz and Trent Alexander-Arnold have all been in action at either the European Championships or the Copa America.

They are not due to report back to training until the start of August and as a result are set to miss the majority of Liverpool's pre-season tour of the United States, where they will play games against Real Betis, Arsenal and Manchester United.

Mohamed Salah and Wataru Endo will be among the most high-profile participants across the Atlantic Ocean as they reported back to the AXA Centre last weekend.

According to reports across the continent, Salah and Endo could be joined in America by further additions later this month. German publication ND claims the Reds are in the running for Spain's Euro 2024 hero Dani Olmo. The RB Leipzig forward scored three goals in his six appearances to help his nation claim a fourth European triumph.

The Reds are said to be in the hunt for Olmo but will face competition from Manchester City and Barcelona, and could look to trigger the £51m release clause in his current RB Leipzig contract, which has been extended until later this week to account for Spain's progression to the final.

Meanwhile, Nico Williams of Athletic Bilbao continues to be linked with a move to Anfield. TalkSPORT claim the Reds are "keen" on the 22-year-old but the "issues" they face relate to the forward's wages, as well as being well-stocked on the left side of attack with the likes of Cody Gakpo, Diaz and Diogo Jota.

Liverpool face Nico Williams transfer battle as club 'opens talks' over deal
However, Fabrizio Romano has reported that Williams is a priority target for Barcelona this summer and the La Liga side are ready to make a swoop for the Bilbao forward, who was named the Man of the Match in Sunday's European Championship final over England.

Should both transfers be tied up this summer, Arne Slot could find himself working with a dream forward line that includes Williams on the opposite flank to Salah, with Olmo in a number ten role supporting Darwin Nunez up front.

That's not to mention the likes of Jota, Gakpo and Diaz who would offer impressive options from the bench. The double switch would cost the Reds close to £100m though, meaning they could offset the cost by selling the likes of Diaz. Barcelona and PSG are among the clubs reportedly monitoring the Colombian winger.
